Sunday Slaylist: Australia Day

Today (January 26) is Australia Day. According to Wikipedia, it “marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip”. In the UK, this means loads of pubs put on extra drink offers on crappy lager in order to entice the nearby Australian ex-pat community into the pub. At Thrash Hits, it represents something we can hang a themed Sunday Spotify Slaylist off.

We’ve put together a Slaylist featuring loads of our favourite Australian bands – the likes of Portal, Silverchair, and Thy Art Is Murder (it’s their singer, CJ up above). Go listen to it. Annoy your friends and relatives all day by trying and failing to do a convincing Australian accent. Then listen to our Slaylist again.

Spotify is available to most of Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and a load of other countries for free – though obviously you’re better off shelling out either £5 or £10 a month for one of Spotify’s premium packages, as then you can listen to our Slaylists without having them interrupted by adverts. For our readers in countries not currently serviced by Spotify….go put some AC/DC on. They’re not on Spotify anyway.
